Meet some of our team of talented professional development trainers...

Clare Williamson

Clare has 25 years' experience of working in training and development.  She is a PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM group member and ILM Assessor.  More recently she has specialized in Project Management through managing projects in both private and public sectors as well as delivering training and mentoring to new and established project managers.

Clare has worked with us at Alpha Training for Conde Nast developing their project managers of the future.  An ex senior training manager, her training skills also cover the full range of leadership and management development subject areas.  She brings her workshops to life with hands on, real world management experience across business areas, and an empathetic approach to the challenges that delegates face in business today. 

Clare lives in the middle of a 700 year old wood deep in the Sussex countryside - lovely and quiet but difficult for visitors and delivery men to find!

Gladys Irving

Gladys has worked with both the private and public sector at all levels, from senior board level to junior management. Training using the Transactional Analysis Model and NLP Gladys trains in Management Development with involvement in tutoring Management Qualifications, plus Personal Development, Managing Conflict and Assertiveness.

During eighteen years of consultancy, as well as delivering one to one coaching from executive level to performance management level, Gladys has been extensively involved in setting up and running Focus Groups and facilitating on both Team Development and Team Building courses. She has worked with Alpha Training since 2006 and has been largely involved with training Customer Service and Personal Development workshops in the NHS.  Her dark secret is that along with the rest of the family she is a passionate supporter of Toon Army (Newcastle United to the uninitiated) and enjoys classical music.

Hilary Gee

Hilary is a CMI-Certified professional leadership & teamwork coach with over 20 years of experience in coaching, management, business, change-facilitation, teaching & training.  He has worked in the UK, Germany, France, USA & Chile & has experience of public, private & not-for-profit sectors, including as Operations & General Manager, as Director of a charity start-up and as a school Governor. He is a visiting Leadership Coach at London Business School.

Hilary has worked with a wide variety of people and teams including CEOs, directors, managers, senior teams, entrepreneurs, lawyers, other trainers & coaches in many sectors including banking & insurance, professional services, publishing, retail, manufacturing, academia, as well as other private & public sector organisations.   Current clients include Santander, Capital One, QBE, the FT, a global reinsurance business, a social care organisation, an internet-media business and various leadership coachees.  Hilary also devises and delivers leadership development programmes, facilitates team development and review days and is engaged in change consulting projects. 

Feedback about Hilary’s approach is that it is insightful, inspiring & pragmatic, providing practical help to support & stretch people and teams to learn & change.  He works with clients to develop insight, high performance teamwork, compelling goals, generate practical options & develop plans for activities & behaviours to make a change to future results.

Hilary is also an active father of 3 boys who are continually testing and developing his leadership and coaching skills.  Otherwise, to occupy all his spare time (!) Hilary sings in choir, plays tennis (too rarely) and has just started to learn to play the piano...and still has some quality time with his wife!

Kathryn Cornish

Kathryn has over 20 years' experience of designing and presenting training courses in a wide range of subjects; including management skills for new managers, appraisal, customer care and time management.  She has been with us at Alpha Training for more than ten years and helps us to shape our whole Personal and Management Development training programme. Recent projects include Management Development training for Kent and Medway NHS and Minute Taking and Report Writing for administrative staff in GP surgeries. 

Kathryn is a Chartered Fellow CIPD, and a Myers Briggs practitioner. She believes working towards new goals is essential to learning and development and is keen to set herself new targets.  She is currently part way through an Open University Degree in English Literature.  When not studying or working, Kathryn sings in a choir and enjoys running (largely to enable her to eat more cake).

Marion Giles

Marion draws on over 30 years’ experience in developing and delivering training in a wide range of subjects in the public sector environment. She has a dual skills background - in IT and personal and management development skills. She focuses on training which involves Communication Skills, e.g. Interpersonal, Influencing, Assertiveness, Time Management, Presentations, Appraisal and Customer Care.

Marion specializes in Writing Skills and offers Business Writing, Correspondence, Minute Taking, Writing Reports and Preparing CVs. She also includes aspects of IT with soft skills e.g. Word Processing Tips with Writing or Minute Taking Skills or PowerPoint Tips with Presentation Skills training. She is a member of the CIPD, a qualified NVQ assessor and can deliver aptitude testing. 

Recent projects include a comprehensive programme and overhauling of correspondence for Sheffield City Council.  Marion is the exclusive provider for Customer Care and Writing Skills in Islington Council.  She has developed and created e-learning training packages in Effective Writing and Report Writing for Ealing Council.  When not working, Marion co-directs a newly established media company to work with authors and musicians to edit, develop, promote and publish their written work.

Mel Owers

Mel is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) and has around 20 years of training experience. He has worked with senior and board level staff on a range of business solutions including training, coaching and management development programmes. His experience includes both small, medium sized organisations as well as larger corporates such as Coca-Cola, HM Treasury and Barclays. Due to his considerable expertise, he has been invited by the CIPD to work with them on a number of occasions - previously as part of the Psychology Faculty and currently as an Assessor. 

He brings his knowledge of training, psychology and project management to create simple, proven and successful solutions to business problems. Recent assignments include Building Resilience training for a Government Department for London 2012 and Emotional intelligence training for the senior strata of management within a highly regarded Local Authority. Mel has worked with Alpha training since 2011 and, when not doing this loves to travel, visit the gym and is a passionate fan of Crystal Palace.

Sarah Edwards

With over 18 years training experience, Sarah is a highly skilled facilitator and communicator who consistently delivers excellent learning experiences. She is confident in designing, delivering and leading major training and coaching programmes. Sarah’s focus is on empowering learners to improve their performance in the workplace.

Sarah specialises in quickly understanding an organisation’s culture and business needs in order to create effective training interventions. She is experienced in working with Senior Directors in a wide variety of organisations from The Bank of England to the Council of Europe. Her areas of expertise are Customer Service training, Leadership & Coaching, Change Management, and Train the Trainer.
